Private equity’s pooled returns outperformed the median by an average of approximately 330bps between 2000–2020. Public data suggests that even the largest, most sophisticated limited partners have difficulty consistently outperforming the pooled (and even median). It’s effectively the same logic as passive investment in public markets, and it is why NewVest's products could be relevant for (at least) part of every investor’s private markets portfolio.²
